Know a business that’s better than the market thinks it is?
This page is here so you can spot the right introduction quickly, and so the person you pass it to can see what I do.
I work with founders and commercial leaders of UK B2B service firms, typically £1M to £30M revenue, as an interim or fractional marketing director.
Step back before hitting the accelerator. More demand won’t fix unclear positioning.

Usually after referral-led growth stalls, a marketing lead leaves, or ahead of a sale or raise.

CreateFuture (acquired by Version 1)
Interim Marketing Director before the Version 1 acquisition. Stabilised the function, reset strategy across four sectors and made marketing a vertical pipeline contributor. Planned the AI-native marketing team of the future, backed by research the business used as the foundation for its next stage of growth.
Kin + Carta (now Valtech)
Head of Marketing, Europe, leading a team of five and sitting on the European exec board. Moved demand into vertical ABM across Retail and FS, ran PR for a retailer’s AI launch that drove 35+ pieces of coverage and 10+ inbound sales conversations, and led the brand integration of two acquired delivery hubs. FWD24 flagship FS innovation event returned 23x revenue.
Checkland Kindleysides
Repositioned a 40-year-old retail design agency and built its new business engine from scratch. Annual target beaten by 88.5%, with wins including IKEA and H&M.
Fetch (acquired by Dentsu)
First Marketing Director through to a c£33M sale to Dentsu. Built the function from scratch and repositioned the brand twice through expansion into New York, San Francisco, Berlin and Tokyo.
What it’s like to work with me
Kathleen joined at a pivotal point for the business — when we needed strategic clarity and stronger execution across marketing. She quickly identified the root issues, aligned the team around clear vertical priorities, and stabilised delivery, while introducing a more AI‑native approach to how the function operates.
Her ability to combine strategic judgement with pace and pragmatism gave everyone confidence that marketing was back on track. Kathleen built a foundation the next phase of the team can genuinely scale from, with AI integrated into our ways of working from the ground up.
Emma Nicol
Chief Operating Officer, CreateFuture
Kathleen partnered with us to shape our brand and social communications in the early days of our start up. She is highly professional and strategic, with a strong ability to assess priorities in any situation and focus on what matters most.
She provides clear, considered advice and guidance, alongside hands-on support where needed, enabling you to get off the ground quickly and effectively. I hugely enjoyed working with her and look forward to the next opportunity to collaborate.

Referrals are always hugely appreciated! Send me a tip on who’s looking and I’ll pick it up from there and keep you posted. Every introduction that leads to a conversation gets a copy of MOVE, the go-to-market book I find myself recommending most.

I’d like to introduce you to Kathleen Carter. She’s an interim and fractional marketing director for UK B2B service businesses, typically £1M to £30M revenue. She’s strongest when referrals have slowed, positioning has blurred or a marketing lead has left. Her page is worth two minutes: agentk.uk/intro
